The Cathedral Church of St Luke's
This project began with the realization that The Episcopal Cathedral of St. Luke's is a vastly different experience than anything I encounter day-to-day. There is a continuity of experience and liturgy there that is vastly different than the community college I work at or the post and beam parish where my wife is the rector. At the same time, I wanted to work both on formal architectural photography and seeing and documenting the life of a worship community. I feel as though I should emphasize that part of my personal goal in this project was to pick a reasonably finite subject, one building, one parish community, and work on really seeing them both together and in and of themselves. All of this work has been given to the Cathedral for their use, but I feel as though I get as much or more out of the work as they do. These images come from the late Christmas Eve Service of 2015 and the Great Easter Vigils of 2016 and 2017.
